Francis Plumbing Heating & Cooling has roots as an Ottawa-based home services firm dating back to 1933. Founded by Hilliard George “HG” Francis, the company started by install and repairing coal and oil furnaces. Shortly thereafter tinsmith services gave way to roofing, and a plumbing division was added. In the 40s and 50s, HG was joined by his sons Bill, Reg and Hugh. The company grew and expanded operations into multiple domains including fuel delivery, ventilation, and added a commercial arm.

By the 1980s, the 3rd generation of the Francis family had joined the business which was burgeoning. The decision was made to split the company into distinct divisions. Reg, who operated the residential plumbing and HVAC division, was joined by his son Dave who had the company join the largest co-operative of licensed HVAC professionals, ClimateCare. Francis Plumbing Heating & Cooling remains a member of the co-operative to this day which holds members to the highest professional standards of conduct.

To this day, we remain a locally owned firm, and are proud of our long and storied history. While we’ve updated the fleet, our vans still have the iconic emerald green colour that’s been associated with the Francis brands since our inception.

As we look to the future, we hold our core values at the heart of our decision making.
